Breakthrough Indicator Stickers (BTIS)
The Breakthrough (Saturation) Stickers (BTIS) are change indicators for ductless hood and fume extractor filters. They are reliable and cost effect means for protection from exposure to toxic vapors in the workplace. They produce bright and vibrant color changes when filters are saturated, hence alerting the user to replace the exhausted filter. The BTIS is available for acidic vapors (e.g., acetic acid, hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, hydrogen bromide, hydrogen chloride, hydrogen iodide, nitric acid, nitrous acid, sulfur dioxide, trichloroacetic acid, and trifloroacetic acid), allyl bromide, aromatic diisocyanates (e.g., toluene 2,4-diisocyanate (2,4-TDI), toluene 2,6-diisocyanate (2,6-TDI) and 4,4′-methylene diphenyl aromatic diisocyanates (MDI), basic vapors (e.g., ammonia, aliphatic amines), chlorine dioxide, formaldehyde, glutaraldehyde, halogens, hydrazine, hydrogen sulfide, mercaptans mercury, methyl ketones, acetaldehyde & acrolein, nitrogen dioxide, organic vapors (i.e., acetone, acetonitrile, acetic acid, hydrochloric acid, trifloroacetic acid trichloroacetic acid, acrylonitrile, aliphatic hydrocarbons (i.e., hexane), aromatic hydrocarbons (i.e., benzene, toluene and xylenes), chlorinated hydrocarbons (i.e., carbon tetrachloride, chloroform and dichloromethane (methylene chloride), ethanol, ethyl Acetate, ethyl acrylate, ethyl ether, forane, gasoline, HFIP (Hexafluoroisopropanol), methanol, methyl acrylate, naphtha, phenol, sulfolane, THF (tetrahydrofuran) and sulfur dioxide. The indicators are easily attached to the outlet of the filter by removing the bottom adhesive protective liner and placing the BTIS on center area of the filter’s outlet. The indicators are sensitive to targeted toxic chemicals with first noticeable color changes appear at or below OSHA permissible exposure limits.
